Bio | He was the second child and the second son of George Browne Post and Alice Mathilda Stone. He graduated from St. Mark's School, Southborough, Massachusetts in 1884; and from Columbia College in the Arts in 1884-1886; from Columbia College in the Mines, Ph.B. in 1890. Following his graduation from Columbia, he took a yearlong "grand tour" in Europe, then he became associated with his father's firm. His father was George Browne Post (1837-1913), a New York architect well-known for his skyscraper designs. In 1904, he became a partner of the old New York architectural firm of his father, George Browne Post & Sons, who designed a number of well-known buildings in many parts of USA. Later with his younger brother, James Otis Post, he operated the architectural practice started by their father. He retired in 1930. William Stone Post had been a resident of the Bernardsville community for 65 years, he was an enthusiastic sportsman, a marksman and an expert billiard player. He died after a short illness of pneumonia. |
