Bio | Diagnosed with diabetes at an early age, Bill Talbert became an inspiration to diabetics around the world with his triumphs on the tennis court. During his remarkable career, he was twice a singles finalist at the U.S. Championships in the 1940s. But he was an even better doubles player, capturing four U.S. Championships. A distinguished and debonair American Davis Cup player and captain, he took over as Tournament Director at the U.S. Open in the 1970s and shined in that post. Talbert wrote some outstanding instruction books and was a distinguished television commentator. |
