Bio | Son of a notary, he studied at the high school of Évreux. His brother Philippe is the architect of the Racing Club de Strasbourg training center. He first married Marion Cristiani, sister of singer Hervé Cristiani. Together they had a daughter, Daphne. He married in second marriage Nathalie Noah, one of the two sisters of Yannick Noah. Together, they had three children: Sébastien, Thomas and Amandine. Patrick Proisy was crowned French Cadet Champion in 1964, junior in 1967 then winner of the junior Roland-Garros tournament the same year. In 1970, he won the gold medal at the Summer Universiade in Turin. He won the National in 1972 and 1973 in doubles with Patrice Dominguez and in singles in 1976. In 1972, he reached the final of Roland-Garros. Seeded No. 9, he defeated in the quarter Jan Kodeš, seeded No. 1. In the semi-finals, he faced No. 4 Manuel Orantes. A great specialist on clay, the Spaniard is then in full confidence with his recent victories in Rome against Kodeš and in Brussels against Gimeno. It is thanks to a lively and offensive style that the Frenchman jostles him throughout the match and beats him in three sets. In the final, Andrés Gimeno no. 6 wins the fight. The Parisian public particularly appreciates the mastery of the net of the Frenchman who won the first round. Gimeno responds to this fine attacking game with passing shots that will make the difference as the match unfolds. He reached 6th place in the Grand Prix standings at the end of the tournament. In early 1973, he reached the semi-final of the Australian Open, losing to eventual winner John Newcombe. In 1975 in Bournemouth, he beat Ilie Năstase, disqualified for "persistent argument" with the referee. In 1980, he beat José Higueras, then 7th in the world, in the first round of Monte Carlo. He has 14 selections in the Davis Cup from 1971 to 1978 for 22 matches played and 13 won. |
