Bio | He was born in 1871, the seventh child of Alexander and Julia Biddle. He attended Princeton University and then the University of Pennsylvania where he was graduated in 1895. In 1914, Lynford had become a member of many prominent Philadelphia clubs including the Philadelphia Club, the Germantown Cricket Club, the Philadelphia Cricket club, the Racquet Club, and the Philadelphia Country Club. In 1935, he had membership of the Rittenhouse Club, the Rabbit Club, the Sunnybrook Golf Club, the Loyal Legion, and the Sons of the Revolution. In 1898, Lynford was named the best cricketer of the Philadelphia Cricket Club, where he was the first tennis singles champion in 1904. In cricket, he was a left-hander. |
