| Bio | He was born in Buff Bay, Portland, on October 30, 1939. Lumsden began his tennis career in high school at Kingston College in the late 1950s.Then he continued his studies at Southern Illinois University in the United states in the early 1960s, where he was the No. One tennis player for his college.  He was one of the first Jamaicans to play tennis on the international circuit in the modern era, and toured along with a fellow Kingston College schoolmate, Richard Russell, for many years during the 1960s and 1970s. He is regarded as one of the best players of Jamaica till nowadays. Lumsden represented Jamaica in the Brandon Trophy on several occasions and also represented the Commonwealth Caribbean in the Davis Cup. After his sport career, he settled in Vienna, Austria. He was also married to Chris Lohner. He also raised a family with three sons in Vienna. In Austria, he was also working as tennis and music journalist before he moved back to Jamaica. He died of cancer on June 18, 2011 at Andrews Memorial Hospital, St Andrew, Jamaica. |
