Bio | Huta Galung celebrated ten tournament successes on the Challenger Tour. Except for one, he won all titles in the individual. On the ATP Tour, he was able to win a title in 2013 in doubles. He qualified several times for the main fields of Grand Slam tournaments, but came there only in 2013 at the French Open beyond the opening round. His Grand Slam debut, he celebrated in 2008 at the Australian Open, where he retired but already in the first round. In the same year he was defeated in doubles with Igor Sijsling in Amersfoort in the final versus František Čermák and Rogier Wassen with 5-7, 5-7. Huta Galung qualified for the ATP Challenger Tour Finals in 2013 in São Paulo with five Challenger Tour Finals in singles, four of which he won. There he failed already in the group stage. As so far only the 3rd doubles pairs, which came as a lucky loser in a main draw, Galung managed a tournament victory in Barcelona in 2014 (with his doubles partner Stéphane Robert) at an ATP World Tour 500 tournament. They defeated Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjić in the final with 6-3, 6-3 and secured their first title on the World Tour. Huta Galung played from 2006 to 2015 for the Dutch Davis Cup team. He has won a total of 6 of his 16 matches, four in singles and two in doubles. In December 2016 he ended his career due to persistent injury problems. |
