Bio | Jeremy Cohen passed away on January 15, 2004. He was 48 years old. Jeremy was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 13, 1955. He grew up in Chicago, where he quickly made his mark as a star tennis player on the junior circuit. After graduating from high school in Cleveland, Ohio, Jeremy came to Arizona for the first time to attend Arizona State University on a tennis scholarship. After much success on the college level, Jeremy pursued and achieved his dream of being a professional tennis player. He turned pro in 1977, and played the international circuit for many years. In 1981 he was honored to earn a spot on the United States Maccabiah team, to represent his country at the international Jewish Olympics. The focus, drive and discipline that Jeremy brought to his life as a professional athlete served him well when he opened his own business as a real estate broker. He went on to become one of the most respected members of the Scottsdale business community. He developed and built medical buildings, but what he really built were relationships - with every person he came in contact with. Jeremy was a people person. He was an incredible friend to so many, always available with his heart, his caring and his love. He was a fun and adoring husband to his wife Mimi. He was a proud father to his son Brandon and daughter Jordan. He was a devoted and loving son to his parents Bob and Shiffy Cohen of Tucson. He will be missed deeply by his brothers Avi and David. He will be missed by all of us. As an active member of the Scottsdale Charros, Jeremy donated his time and considerable energies to many causes in the Scottsdale community. He was also a member of the Verde Vaqueros. For sixteen years he was co-chair of the Fiesta Bowl Invitational Tennis Tournament. Jeremy loved his family, loved his friends, loved to ride his horses, loved to walk his dogs. And we loved his smile. Funeral services were held on Sunday, January 18th in Temple Chai Sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to Scottsdale Charros Community Foundation, 4251 N. Brown Ave., Ste. #2, Scottsdale, AZ 85251. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary. Published in the Arizona Republic on 1/17/2004. |
