Bio | The Father of American Tennis, Dr. Dwight was instrumental in establishing tennis as an authentic competitive sport in the United States. A member of the first USNLTA Executive Committee, he was President of the fledgling organization from 1882-1884, and again from 1894 to 1911. And yet, he was a highly respectable player as well, winning the U.S. Doubles Championships on five occasions, and he served ably as Referee at the U.S. |
