Bio | He was an American doubles tennis champion with Maurice E. McLoughlin. In 1916 they were the number two seeded American doubles team. That year, they won the Pacific coast double championship and the United States sectional double championship in Chicago, Illinois. He was born to John Dawson and Mabel Walker. The Dawson family moved to California when Henry was 2. He was raised in Los Angeles, attended the public school system, then Stanford University prior to the WWI and excelled in both track and tennis. When he returned from the Navy after WWI, he went into the real estate business with his father-in-law, Adolf Uhl who was a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors for 12 years and was three times a candidate for Mayor. |
