Bio | Henry C. Brunie, a former chairman of the Empire Trust Company and a retired vice chairman of the Bank of New York, died of Alzheimer's disease at Craig House Hospital in Beacon, N.Y. He was 84 years old and lived in Stamford, Conn. He was playing four times in the US Championship. Mr. Brunie was president of the Empire Trust Company from 1939 until 1963, then its chairman until 1966, when Empire Trust was absorbed into the Bank of New York. He served as vice chairman of the merged institution until his retirement in 1967. Mr. Brunie was long active in many charitable and social service programs in New York City. During World War II, he was chairman of the Greater New York Area United Service Organizations and later served as president and chairman of the Greater New York Fund. In the 1950's, he served several terms as president of the United Hospital Fund. He is survived by two daughters, Ann Wonham of Stamford and Susan Hughes of Greenwich, Conn.; a stepson, Charles J. Hubbard of Huntington, L. I., and nine grandchildren.
