Bio | He was a German soccer and tennis player.Engelbert Koch began his career as a soccer player. In 1953 he finished his football career after one season at the age of 35. Engelbert Koch was even more successful than in soccer in tennis, which he played both during his active football days and afterwards. Koch won several German championship titles (in 1949 and in 1954 in singles) and represented Germany in 1953 and 1954 four times in the Davis Cup. He won only one of five individual games. His association was the TC Münster, later Rot-Weiß Köln. Engelbert Koch wore the silver-gold plated badge of honor of the DTB. He died in 1962 while still an active player on the tennis court. |
