Bio | Emil Borje Fornstedt, was born in small town called Edsbyn in Sweden. He was one of the best double player in the mid 1940s to mid 1950s also and member of Sweden's Davis Cup team. Fornstedt won the Scandinavian Championships 1948 in singles and doubles (with Sven Davidson) and the same year reached the singles final in Monte Carlo. Although he won the French championship in doubles in 1948 with Kurt Nielsen and also the first Israeli international championships 1949 in both singles and doubles. After his tennis career devoted Fornstedt much time and effort to develop the next generation of tennis players. Fornstedt won a total of six Championship titles in doubles and mixed. He was also the founder of the Stockholm Open in 1969. In 1994 with Sven Davidson he received His Majesty The King's Medal of eight and tenth the size of the blue ribbon for their efforts in Swedish tennis. |
