Bio | Diemer Kool was considered a true tennis phenomenon. In 1912, as a 16-year-old, he defeated Otto Blom, nine years older, and became champion of the Netherlands in men's singles. He repeated this performance in 1915, 1916 and 1917. In the men's doubles he became Dutch champion with Gerard Scheurleer in 1914, 1915 and in 1919 and with Christiaan van Lennep in 1916 and 1923. He also achieved several times in the mixed doubles the Dutch championship: in 1914 with Loes Everts and in 1916 and 1917 with Marie de Bloeme. Diemer Kool was also active on the international playing field. In 1921 he won the third round at Wimbledon. In the period 1920-1933 he played for the Netherlands in the Davis cup. |
