Bio | She was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada as Patricia Lillian Rappell. Her father was Kenneth Steacy Clarke Rappell and her mother was Pernolia Collins. She was a Canadian junior champion in the 1940s then she played at the Presbyterian college tennis team. At this college, she met her future husband, Jack Adams. In 1946, she competed at the US Nationals. 4 years after their marriage, they moved to Laurens, South Carolina, where Pat organized and directed tennis activites at Lakeside Country Club. Then the family moved to Charleston where Pat served as a volunteer tennis coach for Charleston High School from 1954-56. One of her protege was Sally Seebeck. Pat and Jack had 5 daughters, 3 of them (Tish, Gwenda, Jackie) played tennis at University of South Florida. The couple spent the rest of their lives in Newberry. She and her husband, Jack died in a car accident in Newberry, South Carolina. |
