Bio | She was the 1962 USTA girls' national champion for 16-year-olds and won the girls' national doubles hard-court title the following year. She won the USTa girls Sportsmanship trophy in 1964 and went to USC. She played Wimbledon 3 times (1965-67), reaching the 3R in 1967 and QF in mixed doubles in 1965. She also advanced to the quarterfinals of the women's doubles in one of her five appearances in the U. S. Open. In addition, Kathy, 42, has a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for playing the longest women's match in history--a gruelling 62-game match against Elena Subirates that Blake won, 12-10, 6-8, 14-12 at Piping Rock in 1966. After Wimbledon 1967 she played sporadically as late as 1973, when she has still listed a Kathy Blake of Arlington, Virginia. Husband Wayne #1 at UC Santa Barbara. Listed as playing for the Pittsburgh Triangles in WTT in 1974. |
