Bio | She is a retired professional tennis player from Argentina who played in Grand Slam tournaments in the 1970s and 1980s. At age 17, Casabianca won the girls' singles title at the 1977 US Open, becoming the first Argentine player to win a tennis championship abroad. She started playing tennis at the age of 5 at the Comunicaciones club. She was desperate to play tennis that she stole her father's racket when he made the barbecue. Then a man saw her at 8 and advised her father to sign her up in a championship and from that moment she became champion of in every category (children, minors, cadets, youth) and being number one in the ranking in many categories in 1977. The AAT (Argentine Tennis Association) gave her a grant to play the US Open Juniors which she won. She retired from tennis because at 26 she suffered an injury to her leg that she still has, because at that time there was no MRI and only now she was able to see that she had a spilled synovial fluid. |
