Bio He was the eldest son of His Highness Maharajadhiraj Mirza Maharao Shri Vijayarajji Sawai Bahadur, Maharao of Cutch and Her Highness Sirohiwala Chauvan Maharani Bai Shri Padma Kunwarba Sahib. He was educated at Rajkumar College, Rajkot.
He represented India at the Davis Club in 1936. By chance, in 1937, in Wimbledon, he met Franjo Kukuljevic, with whom he played doubles and from that point, they became lifelong friends.
He was the president of Cutch State Council from 1943-1948. He acceded to the throne, upon death of his father on January 26, 1948 under the new name and style of Madansinhji and became the 18th King of the Jadeja Dynasty ruled for 89 days till May 4, 1948, when the administration of Princely State was completely merged in to Union of India.
Madansinhji belonged to a new breed of Royalty, who placed their education, contacts and skills at the disposal of the new India. As the last ruler of Kutch, he was very close to Jawaharlal Nehru.
On 1st June 1948 he signed a treaty with the Indian Union, making Kutch a Part ā€˜Cā€™ state. He took the advice of his close friend Lord Mountbatten, Maharao Madansinhji joined the Foreign Services in 1953. He served as a Minister in England (1949-1956), the Ambassador to Norway(57-60) and Chile (60-61) and then retired.
He resided in the Sharad Bagh and Vijay Villas Palace after his retirement. He married Maharani Bai Shri Rajendra Kunverba Sahib at Kishangarh on February 12, 1933. They had 3 sons and 2 daughters.
