Bio Edmondson is best remembered for winning the 1976 Australian Open while ranked 212th in the world, still the lowest-ranked winner of a Grand Slam tournament since the ATP rankings were introduced in 1973. He is the last Australian to date to win the men's singles at the Australian Open.

Hard work and an indefatigable will to win have brought Mark Edmondson much deserved sucesses on the pro tour. "Edo" has had some very good singles results, to say the least: winning the Australian crown in 1976, with wins over Ken Rosewall and John Newcombe, and his reaching the semi-finals, unseeded, at Wimbledon in 1982.

Yet it is doubles where he has cornered a portion of the tennis record book. Through 1986, Mark had reached 65 doubles finals, winning 31. Mark's late father was a man very dedicated to Australian tennis, and a tennis complex was named in his honour in their hometown.
Outspoken, frank and opinionated, Mark is cut from the same cloth; he cares enough about the future of his sport to have served on the ATP Board of Directors, 1980-1984.
His wife name is Vicki, and son Karl.
