Bio Doug Crawford as teenager worked as ball boy at Longwood Cricket Club in Chestnut Hill during a national tennis doubles tournament held there. His family was members.

In 1966, Crawford, then a multisport athlete at Lawrence Academy in Groton, was ranked first in New England in 16-and-under singles.
Crawford, a Weston native who lives in Wayland, later teamed up Dave Fish to win the 18-and-under New England doubles title in 1967.
Crawford went on to play on the Association of Tennis Professionals tour, with stops at Wimbledon as well as the French and US opens.
Crawford, who fulfilled his dream of playing at Wimbledon in 1973 and 1975, the year he attained his highest world ranking (117th), won the New England Pro championship in 1976. He reached the third round of the US Open in 1977.
Crawford, who attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, left the pro circuit in 1978 and now owns Bandwagon Inc., a Wilmington-based business that was founded by his father .
Crawford still felt the need for competition after his tennis career and took up golf at age 30.
