Bio | He was born in Zimbabwe (formerly known Rhodesia) where he attended St. Edwards School and started playing tennis seriously. He began playing tennis on the family court at age 6. He joined the professional tour after graduation and went on to play all four majors. He was the Davis Cup Team Captain for Rhodesia and was elected Sportsman of the Year. He reached the round of 16 at Wimbledon twice and made it to the semifinals of the French Open in doubles. Bey played on the Davis Cup team for Rhodesia. He moved to Texas in 1975 where he became a tennis professional in Austin. He was a tour pro at Westside Tennis Club in Houston from 1975-1982 before moving to Montgomery County to serve as the head pro at April Sound and Bentwater Country Club. He was inducted into Texas Tennis Museum & Hall of Fame in 2010. He passed away after a heroic battle with cancer in 2019. |
